About the District Resource Centre (DRC):

The District Resource Centre (DRC) is an initiative of the Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, aimed at promoting collaborative learning, academic excellence, and resource sharing among Government Degree Colleges within a district. The DRC functions as a nodal academic coordination body that facilitates the exchange of expertise, infrastructure, and best practices to strengthen higher education at the grassroots level.

Objectives:

  • To promote academic collaboration and resource sharing among Government Degree Colleges in the district.
  • To organize seminars, workshops, and training programmes for faculty and students.
  • To facilitate student exchange programmes and inter-collegiate competitions.
  • To strengthen research orientation and skill-based learning among students.
  • To encourage faculty development programmes (FDPs) for continuous professional growth.
  • To ensure effective implementation of government initiatives and CCE directives at the institutional level.

Functions:

  • Conducting district-level academic and cultural events.
  • Coordinating with subject forums to enhance teaching-learning quality.
  • Maintaining a database of faculty expertise, learning materials, and resources.
  • Organizing training and awareness programmes on employability skills and social responsibility.
  • Providing a platform for inter-college networking and capacity building.

Composition of the DRC Committee (College Level):

  • Principal – Chairperson
  • DRC Coordinator – Convener
  • Heads of Departments – Members
  • Senior Faculty Members – Members
  • Student Representatives – Members

Activities at Government Degree College for Women, Srikalahasti:

  • Conducted district-level seminars on Women Empowerment, Environmental Awareness, and Career Guidance.
  • Organized student exchange and inter-collegiate competitions in essay writing, elocution, and quiz.
  • Hosted faculty enrichment programmes on ICT-enabled teaching and curriculum development.
  • Participated in joint projects and extension activities with other GDCs under DRC guidelines.

Outcome:

The DRC has enhanced collaborative learning, academic exposure, and leadership skills among both students and faculty. It serves as a platform for sharing innovative practices and promoting holistic development across colleges in the district.
