Student Evaluation
The institution adopts a system of multiple and concurrent evaluations, duly communicated through institutional mechanisms such as the College Calendar, which is distributed to all students and faculty at the beginning of each academic year.
The Examination Coordinator is responsible for conducting internal assessments and coordinating logistics for university examinations. Continuous evaluation of students is ensured through the following mechanism:
Modes of Student Evaluation
-
1. University Examinations
All University examinations are conducted strictly in accordance with the rules, regulations, and guidelines issued by the affiliating University from time to time. Notifications received from the University are displayed on the notice board for students’ reference. In addition, detailed information regarding examination schedules, regulations, and evaluation procedures is provided to students during the orientation programme.2. Assignment-Based Evaluation
For every subject, faculty members assign topics for written assignments, typically at the end of each chapter. Students are required to submit these assignments within the specified deadlines. Evaluation is based on both the quality of content and the punctuality of submission.3. Attendance-Based Evaluation
While the University prescribes a minimum attendance of 75% to be eligible for examinations, the College motivates students to maintain higher attendance by awarding internal marks as an incentive.4. Classroom Discipline and Conduct
To promote discipline and healthy competition, the College recognizes a Best Outgoing Student from each course. These awards are presented during the College Day celebrations, thereby encouraging responsible classroom behavior and active participation.5. Co-Curricular Participation
The institution encourages students to actively participate in co-curricular activities, both within the College and in inter-collegiate events. Participation and achievements in such activities contribute to overall evaluation.6. Subject-Based Viva-Voce
In all courses, viva-voce examinations form a mandatory component of internal assessment. A portion of the internal marks is allocated based on students’ performance in these oral examinations.7. Report Writing and Field Work
In practice-oriented courses such as MSW, field work constitutes a major component of evaluation. Students are required to submit weekly field work reports to their faculty supervisors. The quality and consistency of these reports significantly influence their internal assessment marks.8. Seminar and Presentation Skills
Seminar presentations are integral to most courses. Students prepare and present topics before their peers and faculty. Performance is assessed on clarity, content, and delivery, and marks are awarded accordingly.9. Interpersonal Skills and Value-Based Assessment
Each year, the College identifies and honors the best outgoing student in every course, considering factors such as interpersonal relationships, discipline, and positive habits. Additionally, class representatives and student leaders are selected based on their demonstrated interpersonal skills and responsible conduct.
Evaluation Reforms
The institution has adopted several evaluation reforms introduced by the affiliating University and has also implemented certain reforms at its own level. The major reforms initiated by the University are as follows:
